Last week the co-pilot of a Heathrow-bound Air Canada plane had to be dragged screaming from his cockpit after apparently suffering a mental breakdown in mid-air. Horrified passengers on the flight from Canada saw the man being pinned down by fellow crew members as he yelled loudly and demanded to "speak to God".

There were strange goings on at the farm today when a flock of sheep made their own version of a crop circle. About 100 of the woolly creatures formed an orderly ring - baffling the farmer and passers-by.

Farm manager at Herefordshire College of Technology, Dan Seaborne, said: "I just think they've been fed with dry feed in that shape - you can get snacker feeders now and you tow behind a quad and it drops pellets on the ground.

"I would imagine that's what's happened."

He added: "I think there was a chap in Yorkshire who spelled out 'will you marry me' to his girlfriend in sheep by putting feed down."

It was a friendship that could inspire a Disney movie. Oscar the dog and his best friend, Arthur the cat, were inseparable in life. So, when 17-year-old moggy Arthur died, Oscar was left inconsolable. Their owners, Robert and Mavis Bell, buried Arthur in the garden.

But Oscar's love for his friend would not die – and during the night, he pulled the cat from his grave, carried him inside, laid him in the basket they used to share and gently cleaned him up. Which is one of those things that's heartwarming when an animal does it, but kind of creepy when a human does the same.

Mr Bell found the pair curled up together in the basket. He said: 'Oscar had watched me bury Arthur. They had been inseparable.'

Arthur is now buried in a secure grave in the garden at the Bells' home in Wigan and Oscar has a new playmate kitten called Limpet.

'He's already very protective of her,' Mrs Bell said.

Cricket was having a perfectly nice nap, then suddenly did the "strange cat" meowling. This is Shawna from next door and it / he / she is crazy. Ordinarily, I love all cats, but this one will attack you if it sees you outside!

Please note the snow and my clothes dryer. One day you're drying clothes outside, the next day you have three feet of snow. Now the back door is snowed shut and I can't get my clothes dryer inside. Oh well, wait for spring, I guess. Only four more months!

Antonio Puerta, 22, a Spanish soccer player, has died of cardiac arrest three days after collapsing at a match.

I'm complacent.

I sit on my back deck at midnight talking to the neighborhood cats. I go for long walks alone. I don't lock the doors or windows quite consistently enough for my husband.

I live in a rural village, where nothing really exciting happens.

Well... there's this fugitive on the loose. He's randomly killed three people. One bartender and a sweet pair of Great-Grandparents. He's on a spree, I guess. Who knows what makes people snap. Maybe it's the heat. He steals his victims cars and has been tooling around the country, but I never really paid too much attention.

Until today.

Turns out that last night, while I'm sitting on my back deck at midnight talking to the neighborhood cats (I know, Crazy-Cat-Lady-in-training), a murderer at large abandonned his stolen vehicle 45 minutes from here. He's armed and dangerous, as they say. Probably looking for another vehicle. Or camping out in the woods. Scary crap!

This *thing* was photographed in England skulking about near a party of schoolchildren on a field trip. Yikes!
They're calling it the "Beast of Dartmoor".
Here I was thinking that Britain was the only place safe for hiking.

In Canada we have bears and cougars and wolves and all sorts here just waiting to attack a hapless hiker such as myself. It's why I never hike in the wilderness. You could get eaten by a bear or something. Laugh all you want! It happens all the time.
