Hope's Story

Hope from Donkey Sanctuary Europe

"In November 2002, we heard about a donkey in Greece who had been attacked by louts and had both of her ears hacked off and her back savagely mauled with a shovel."

"The people who rescued Hope and her friend could not look after them and wanted to know if we could take them into our care. We would not normally be able to travel so far to rescue a donkey but in this case we did manage to rescue both donkeys along with four others .

It was a very emotional moment for Paul Svendsen who had first seen her in Greece, to finally see her come down the ramp of the lorry to her new safe home with us."

So, the next time you are looking for a great gift idea for a child's birthday or Christmas gift, why not consider adopting a donkey from your local donkey sanctuary? Please consider it. This is especially great if the child can visit "their" donkey on occasion. Everybody wins.

OH! that's a sad and beautiful story. I've heard that there's a donkey sanctuary near our house and the woman often thinks about volunteering there (she told me this.)
I will talk to her about making a donation.
